The Coming Ice Age!!!!

I just watched a program called In Search Of... from 1978 that focused on the scientific consensus at the time that the earth was entering a new ice age. Suggestions are thrown out to use nuclear weapons and special sunlight absorbing materials to melt the polar ice caps to prevent the ice age that would come "within one lifetime!" Thirty years later the same damn scientists are claming that there is global warming and on 15 August 2009 all life will spontaneously combust from global warming! (see the countdown clock on the Church of Global Warming page.)

The Mahasamadhi of Adi Da Samraj

I have just learned that Adi Da Samraj, great spiritual master and possible Avatar (depending on who you ask), has had his Mahasamadhi on 27 November. While I would say his realization was not in doubt thee were some other issues, leading eventually to his seclusion on the island of Naitauba in Fiji. Following is a tribute to Adi Da provided by Dattatreya Siva Baba on 8 December.

Jesus in India

I just saw the documentary Jesus in India, which examins the evidence that Jesus visited India during the 18 years of his life missing from the Gospels. While very good the producers made out on Coast to Coast AM the other night that whoever sees this program should be totally convinced that Jesus visited India after watching it. The documentary mainly consisted of interviews of people in the west saying that a document in a Buddhist monestary, The Life of Saint Issa, that was discovered by Nicolas Notovitch in 1894 is a fake and getting very angry for even bringing it up, and then there were people in India saying absolutely it's real but copies have to be protected so it can't be shown to anyone. Starting out as someone who already believes Jesus visited India I can say I am pleased that someone actually made a documentary dealing with the topic. However, watching this documentary is not likely to change anyone's opinions regarding the topic. Maybe the extra 80 minutes of footage on the DVD say something more convincing, but I don't yet know. If I can get my hands on a copy of the DVD I'll let you know how convincing or not it is.

Seeing Perfection in the Process

Toward the Ideal Society.

An integral vision of the Kalipolis as described in Book II of Plato's Republic. A society where everyone works according to their talents and lives their passions, all the while engaging others in a global network of similar ideal societies.

Watch me say "et cetera" more times than I will bother to count!

The Magellan of Instrumental TransCommunication

If Magellan hung around with flat earth people nobody would take his plan to circumnavigate the globe seriously and it would have hurt his career. Science takes us outside of our comfort zone and it is our duty to follow the data whereever they take us, not recoil and make blanket proclamations that entire areas of research are unscientific or wrong.

While this is not my best video, it is very good and well worth watching.

Veterans Day: Its History and Meaning

11 November 1918: after four years and 20 million lives lost the war to end all wars came to an end. Heroes rose and empires fell. In the years ahead wars would arise and heroes would once again be needed to heed the call of duty to protect those who need protection and to stop those who would cause others harm. This is what Veterans Day is about. We honour those who rose to greatness when their country, and the world, needed them.

It is now 90 years to the day since the war to end all wars came to an end. The last of those brave men who served in that struggle for freedom won't be here for much longer, so while I still can I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to you who served. And not only to those who served in the First World War, but in all wars since, and to all those who continue to step up when the world needs them most. Thank you.

Random Acts of Kindness

At the Heart2Heart site there is a lovely piece on random acts of kindness. "We all have good days and the not-so good days...but there's nothing like a Random Act of Kindness to pull any person out of a lousy mood." This wonderful little story, written by Chris Courtney, will surely warm your heart. Enjoy!

Why The Economy Failed

Why is the economy in the shape that it is now? Subprime mortgages you say. Well, where did that come from? There were these evil, black magic motherfuckers (I can think of nothing more appropriate to call someone who would do something this hideous) who wanted to ruin the country and blame everyone else so that they would look like heroes. There is no excuse for what they did. In November make sure to vote for John McCain to keep them in check

An American Carol

After movies like Lions for Lambs (lost $50 million!), Stop-Loss (lost $14.1 million), and Redacted (lost $4.2 million) failed here is a movie that doesn't dissapoint on every page (a phrase used frequently at the old Urban Mystic). Nothing can be said about the performance of An American Carol so far because this is still the first weekend, but all it has to do is break even to be a bigger success than all those anti-American films. Of course, all the people who can't get over their partisan positions will hate this movie without having ever seen it, but hey, they said Expelled failed when it made twice as much as it cost and was the fifth highest grossing documentary of all time (anything that gives a return on investment of 200% is a success). I usually don't watch comedy pictures, but this was genuinely funny, especially the zombie ACLU. This wasn't one of those offensive comedies; it was a just good, honest fun. You definitely should see An American Carol.

The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming

If you remember the old Urban Mystic you'll remember the book The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming and Environmentalism by Christopher Horner. Well, here is a roughly 35 minute video in which the author explains the book, why man-made global warming is a fraud, and how warmer temperatures, fossil fuels, and wealth are good for humanity. -Dee

Updates

All the entries in the original year of The Urban Mystic have been saved at a mediumly secure location. There are 113 pages of entries for 2006 and I will go through all of them and pick out the best examples of what The Urban Mystic is all about and repost them here as a Best Of series. The same will be done with the 2007 and 2008 entries.

Remember, most of the entries, at least initially, are very poor. They represent the transition between the fully blown fundamaterialist Dee, who died in 2006, to the modern Dee who is still trying to figure everything out. There is a lot of garbage in 2006 and likely in 2007 and all that will not be reposted. I thought I should spare you the horror of having to relive all that.

The Urban Mystic

The old location of The Urban Mystic is being closed down on 31 October. In the mean time everything will be transfered to this new location, and probably there will be a slow down in things like videos and pages for The L. I'll keep you posted, here instead of there.
